Aaron Taylor-Johnson is in "awe" of 'Godzilla' director Gareth Edwards.
The 'Kick-Ass 2' actor will star alongside Elizabeth Olsen and Bryan Cranston in Warner Bros.' remake of the classic monster film and he admits he was initially reluctant to accept the role of military man Lieutenant Ford until he heard the filmmaker was behind the movie.
He told BANG Showbiz: "I got the call on 'Godzilla' and was like, 'What the f**k? No! Why would I do that?' Then they mention Gareth Edwards is on it and I was like, let me meet him. I'm awe of what that guy did [previously] and [thought] maybe if I met him I'd understand what he wanted to do.
"It was meant to be a 30 minute meeting it turned into six hours. I was just intrigued by him and his vision. He's really modest and humble as a person, [and] he's really easy to work with ... incredibly chilled out and because of that the whole crew was like that."
The 23-year-old leading man thinks Edwards' take on the classic story will be refreshing and he is incredibly excited about the movie they made.
He gushed: "It was amazing. He never blows ... in result, I think we shot some incredible stuff. Every one of those actors [in the movie] was on top of his list and he got them all. I'm excited for how they're going to put that together. I'm a huge fan of him."
'Godzilla' is due for release in May 2014.
'Kick-Ass 2' is in cinemas now.
