We are huge fans of Liam Neeson here at FemaleFirst and A Monster Calls is just one of the film projects that he has on the horizon in 2016.
Sadly, we are going to have to wait until next October before the film finally hits the big screen, but the first teaser trailer has arrived. And the unmistakable voice of Neeson narrates this first footage from the film.
2016 really is going to be the year of the wonderful cast as Neeson is joined by Toby Kebbell, Felicity Jones, and Sigourney Weaver. We are also going to be introduced to Lewis MacDougall, who will take on the central role of Connor.
A Monster Calls is a big screen adaptation of the critically-acclaimed novel by Patrick Ness; Ness has also adapted his own book into the film's screenplay.
The movie marks the return of J.A. Bayona to the director's chair and he is one of the most exciting filmmakers around. He has already brought us the fantastic The Orphanage and The Impossible and I cannot wait to see what he delivers this time around. A Monster Calls will be his first film since The Impossible back in 2013.
12-year-old Conor (MacDougall) attempts to deal with his mother's (Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith. Also featuring Liam Neeson who will star in performance-capture and voiceover as the nocturnally visiting monster of the title, and Sigourney Weaver as the maternal grandmother.
A Monster Calls is released October 2016
