Zero Dark Thirty cemented itself as a major Oscar contender by winning Best Picture at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards.
The movie marks the return to the director's chair for Kathryn Bigelow - who hasn't directed since the success of The Hurt Locker back in 2009; she went on to make history as the first female filmmaker to win Best Director.
But she is back with another military based movie as Zero Dark Thirty focuses on the hunt for Osama Bin Laden.
The movie has so far been met with huge acclaim and New York Film Critics Circle Awards gave it their top prize.
There was also success for Bigelow herself as she walked away with the Best Director prize.
Best Actor went to Daniel Day Lewis for his depiction of Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's bio-pic Lincoln.
Lewis looks set to battle it out for his third Best Actor Oscar in the new year but is set to face some tough competition.
There was further success for Lincoln as Sally Field took home the Best Supporting Actor award.
Rachel Weisz triumphed in the Best Actress category for her performance in The Deep Blue Sea.
