Zack Snyder has been announced as the director of the new Superman movie.
The 300 filmmaker was one of just a string of filmmakers that Christopher Nolan, who will be producer, was considering for the director's chair - Matt Reeves, Tony Scott were amongst the others.
But Snyder, whose next project is animation movie Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole, has beat them all to the post but was reluctant to give anything away about the movie.
Speaking to MTV he said: "All I'll say is that those guys, Chris and David [Goyer], have created an amazing story. The 'Why [remake] Superman?' is definitely being looked at with care, that's all I could hope for as a director.
"Everyone always says, 'Why Superman? Why is he relevant? Who is he now?' I think those guys have done an amazing job with that. That's the real trick."
And Synder admitted that he would love for Nolan to be involved in the filming of the movie as well as serving as a producer.
"I would think that he would be," he said. "I have a lot of respect for him."
A cast is yet to be announced for the movie. But Snyder has also completed work on Sucker Punch. which will be released at the beginning of next year.
