Zachary Quinto has been forced to defend comments he made about 'stepping away' from the Star Trek franchise for a time.
Qunito took on the role of Spock in the 2009 re-boot of the sci-fi franchise, which enjoyed critical and box office success, and a second movie is already in the pipeline.
However earlier this week Quinto told Wired: "I'm stepping away from Star Trek for at least two years - no movies, no conventions, no anything for a while."
On his blog yesterday the actor, who shot to fame as Sylar in Heroes, cleared up any rumours that he was about to leave the franchise by writing: "Obviously I will be a part of any upcoming films... reprising my role as Spock.
"What I meant was that in the meantime I won't be making any public appearances related to the franchise - or doing any more auxiliary projects pertaining to the Trek universe (sic)," he wrote.
"I will be focusing my efforts on other projects and preparing to shoot the next film - which will be released in June of 2012... two years from now.
"Hence the no Trek for two years remark. Worry not trekkers. It was a misunderstanding of context. I am not Spock. But I am Spock. All at the same time."
The actor can currently be seen reprising his role as Sylar in the fourth series of Heroes as well as having movie Nashville in the pipeline.
