Zach Galifianakis

Zach Galifianakis has admitted that he had no say in the dropping of Mel Gibson from the Hangover 2.

The troubled actor, who is trying to resurrect his career, was set to play a cameo role in the comedy sequel but was apparently dropped when some cast members complained about his casting.

And while there may have been some complaints from some people on the production Galifianakis revealed that he never gets involved with that side of filmmaking.

Speaking on NBC's Today Show the actor said: "I do not consult on the movies that I'm in. I just show up and I say my lines, usually terribly, and I do consult on dialogue.

"But as far as hiring and firing of actors, I have no insight into that world whatsoever."

The Hangover was a huge critical and commercial smash when it was released last summer that a second movie has begun filming.

Todd Phillips is back in the director's chair for the movie while Galifianakis has once again been joined by Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Justin Bartha.

But Galifianakis is back on the big screen this week as he teams up with Robert Downey Jr for Phillips' new movie Due Date.

The movie is Phillips' first project since the success of The Hangover last year.

Due Date is released 5th November.
