Zac Efron admits that he did enjoy the challenge of his new movie The Lucky One.
The actor returned to the big screen this week as he took on the role of Marine who is trying to find his place in the world after returning from combat.
The movie is a big screen adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name and saw Efron team up with filmmaker Scott Hicks.
And the actor admits that he was worried about the role at first but enjoyed the challenge that is posed.
Speaking to the Press Association the actor said: "Initially, I wasn't convinced I could pull this off, but the more I thought about it, and the more I talked to Scott, I realised if there was ever going to be a chance to play a role so different from what I've played before, this was it.
"I knew that it would be a challenge, but that's where the fun comes in."
Efron turns his hat to animation next as he lends his voice to Dr Seuss' The Lorax, a movie that has already enjoyed huge success at the U.S. box office.
The Lucky One is out now.
