Despite being leaked onto the internet X-Men Origins: Wolverine is still expected to do the business at the box office.
Wolverine is the first spin-off from the X-Men movies and sees Hugh Jackman reprise the role of Logan, the role that made him a star, for the fourth time.
And the film is expected to open with the biggest gross of the year so far, maybe taking as much as $120 million this weekend.
Chris Aronson, Fox sales manager, told TheWrap.com: "The expectation bar has to be set at a realistic place. It's a spin-off of a movie that's been sequalised twice."
If it was to hit or exceed these predictions it would set the record for biggest gross for the first weekend in May. This time last year it was Iron Man hitting cinemas performing above expectations taking $102.1 million.
The movie was leaked online last month and may have been downloaded 100,000 times. However the leaked material was an incomplete and early version of the film with several special effect scenes and musical score missing.
At the L.A premiere on Tuesday night the movie's producer Lauren Shuler Donner told EW: "We may never figure out who did it, and that pisses me off."
"It's hard enough in this economy to get these types of films made, and if enough people bootleg and don't go to the theatre, we won't be able to make these movies anymore."
