X-Men Origins: Wolverine

X-Men Origins: Wolverine has clawed away all of the competition to top the UK box office in it's opening weekend.

The film grossed £6.7 million in the UK easily reaching the number one spot. Despite the film being leaked onto the internet last month Wolverine has opened strongly grossing $87 million in the U.S.

The film sees Hugh Jackman reprise the role of Wolverine, the part that shot him to stardom in 2000, for the fourth time in the first spin-off of the hit X-Men franchise.

Hannah Montana: The Movie had to settle for the number two spot with a strong £2 million opening while State of Play dropped two places to number three.

The only other new entry was at number four in the form of Matthew McConaughey's relationship comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past while 17 Again dropped one place to round off the top five.

Fast & Furious was this week's biggest faller as is dropped four places from three to seven there were also three place drops for I Love You, Man, from five to eight, In The Loop, six to nine, and The Uninvited dropping from seven to ten.
