X-Men: First Class' producer Lauren Donner has revealed that the movie will be a prequel to the successful X-Men series
Talking at Comics Continuum she said:"It is the first class of Xavier's school, way back when, so it's young Scott, young Jean, young Beast and that'll be really fun."
"I think [the plan] is to follow some of the characters into their own stories, and weave them back into the X-Men world."
"And hopefully First Class will become its own franchise and we can follow them as they grow up."
Next month sees the first X-Men spin off hit the big screens with the release of Wolverine, which sees Hugh Jackman reprise the role of Logan for the fourth time.
That movie also focuses on his life before meeting Professor Xavier and the X-Men. A Magneto spin-off is also in the pipeline.
