Winona Ryder says that she was 'touched and humbled' to be asked to work on Tim Burton's personal project Frankenweenie.

The actress will lend her voice to the character of Elsa van Helsing and the movie will reunite her with Burton for whom she starred in Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands.

But the fact that this is such a personal movie for Burton made being asked to be part of it even more special for the actress.

Speaking to Flicks and Bits the actress said: "I'm so grateful to be part of this movie Frankenweenie, in particular, because it is so personal to [Burton]. Frankenweenie, it's really about him and his dog. It's a special one, you know?"

"There's movies that you do and you talk about them, but then there's the ones that you really love. And all of the three films I've made with Tim Burton I really love, but this one I have to say, I just saw it and I was crying, I was losing it. I loved it.

"I would do anything for Tim, I would read the phonebook and I'm sure he would make it into a brilliant piece of art.

"I was incredibly touched and humbled that he asked me to be a part of such a personal project. That meant a lot to me."

Ryder has mixed and matched her roles of late moving from comedy The Dilemma to thriller The Letter.

She is currently filming Homefront which will see her team up with Jason Statham and James Franco.

Frankenweenie is released 17th October.
