Will Ferrell has revealed that he is waiting to see Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes before making his own comedy version.
The funnyman was due to team up with Sacha Baron Cohen for a spoof version of Arthur Conan Doyle's crime fighting due Holmes and Watson but the project has been put on hold.
Ferrell told HitFix: "I think everyone just wants to see...[Ritchie's Holmes is] probably going to be a hit franchise."
"Would it just inform the audience to allow for us to do a comedy version or would it feel like we're just trying to copy them, even though I think we wrote our script before they did?"
"I just met with Sacha, like, three weeks ago. We're talking about it some more."
Judd Apatow is linked with the movie in a producing role.
Robert Downey Jr has been cast as the legendary crimefighter in Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes with Jude Law as Watson.
