Will Ferrell has joked that he was pleased to 'topple' Brad Pitt in their new movie Megamind.
The two stars lend their voices to the animation movie but it's Ferrell who finds himself in the lead role, claiming that there was only room for one hero.
Speaking to the Chicago Sun-Times the actor said: "It's no secret that Brad and I have had a long-standing rivalry. I finally saw this as my opportunity to topple him.
"While it definitely happened in this movie, I don't know if it's happened career-wise... yet. There's only room for one hero, and it's right here!"
And the actor believes that his new movie holds valuable lessons for adults as well as children. "In all superhero stories, there's the back and forth between the good and bad forces.
"What's fun here is that the bad guy finally gets everything he wishes for, and then realises it's an empty promise.
"That's a good message for the kids, and maybe for their parents who will bring them to see the movie, as well."
Ferrell has already enjoyed success this year as he teamed up with Mark Wahlberg for comedy The Other Guys, which saw him reunite with filmmaker Adam McKay.
Everything Must Go, which sees him work with Rebecca Hall is also due for release this year.
Megamind is released 3rd December.
