Viola Davis

Viola Davis

Viola Davis is set to take on the role of American civil rights activist Barbara Jordan in a new movie.

Jordan went on to become the first black woman elected to Congress and the movie will be based on the biography by Mary Beth Rogers.

The movie comes hot off the heels of the success of The Help, which saw Davis pick up a BEst Actress Oscar nomination for her performance.

She won the same award at the Screen Actor Guild whilst picking up nominations at the Baftas and the Golden Globes.

And we look set to be seeing plenty of Davis over the next year or so as she has already completed work on Won't Back Down and she is currently filming Ender's Game.

Ender's Game is directed by Gavin Hood and also stars Asa Butterfield, Ben Kingsley and Harrison Ford.
