Vera Farmiga has revealed that it was the female desire in her character that drew her to her latest movie Up In The Air.
Farmiga joins forces with George Clooney in Jason Reitman’s latest movie in the role of Alex Goran.
In an interview with Digital Spy she said: "What attracted me most to her and the portrayal of her was female desire. It's libertine and unapologetic and shameless and demanding.
"I thought it was really cool to see it portrayed that way and there was the challenge of walking that line and honouring that power and prowess without frightening off the audience."
"I found that to be a wonderful tightrope to walk - that's what intrigued me.
"And again, this guy (director Jason Reitman) was such an incentive and the script was hilarious and the dialogue was incredible, but your dance partner makes all the difference and George was the centre."
After the success of The Departed Farmiga has gone on to appear in The Boy In The Stripped Pyjamas and Orphan.
Up In The Air is currently under the awards spotlight and Farmiga has picked up a Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe nomination for her performance.
The movie is amongst the favourites to feature heavily at the major award ceremonies over the next few weeks.
