Tracy Morgan has won a top acting prize at the Monte Carlo Television Festival, just days after controversial jokes in his stand-up show sparked outrage in the U.S.
The 30 Rock star came under fire from gay rights activists after making a series of offensive comments at a comedy show in Nashville, Tennessee on 3 June (11), and he publicly apologized last week (10Jun11).
But he was given a boost on Friday (10Jun11) when he was named Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series at the 51st Monte Carlo Television Festival's Golden Nymph Awards.
The funnyman was not present at the event, where Jon Hamm was also feted for his role on hit drama series Mad Men.
Morgan has been with hit TB show 30 Rock since 2006 and has mixed and matched his TV and movie roles.
He will next bee seen in Nailed, which also stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Jessica Biel and James Marsden.
