Tom Hardy has admitted that his character of Bane is nothing like The Joker.
Hardy is one of the new faces on The Dark Knight Rises cast list as Bane is introduced to Christopher Nolan's Batman franchise for the very first time.
And while Bane is set to do battle with Batman the British actor reveals that Bane and The Joker are nothing alike.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly the actor said: "The Joker didn't care. He just wanted to see the world burn, and he was a master of chaos and destruction, unscrupulous and crazy.
"Bane is not that guy. There is a very meticulous and calculated way about Bane.
"There is a huge orchestration of organisation to his ambition. He is also a physical threat to Batman. There is nothing vague about Bane. No jokes. He's a very clean, clear villain."
Hardy has had a great twelve months with the likes of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Warrior under his belt but this is the first time that he has stepped into a superhero franchise.
The Dark Knight Rises is set to be one of the biggest grossing movies of the year and it will be the first Batman movie since The Dark Knight back in 2008.
And 2012 is set to be a busy year for the actor as we will also be seeing him in Lawless, which also stars Shia LaBeouf, Gary Oldman and Guy Pearce.
The Dark Knight Rises is released 20th July
