Tom Hanks believes that his new movie Larry Crowne delivers a very 'upbeat' message about being out of work.
The actor is set to return to the big screen next month with new movie Larry Crowne, which reunites him with his Charlie Wilson's War co-star Julia Roberts.
The movie follows Larry as he goes back to school after being sacked and Hanks believes that it is a very hopeful movie.
Speaking on the red carpet at the London premiere the actor said: "I think this film is about a battle against cynicism we all have," he said on the red carpet.
"Larry is not in a hopeful space - he has been sacked, he is going to lose his house, he doesn't know how long he is able to keep going, he can't afford gasoline for his SUV. How does he wake up every morning, and feel hopeful about his situation?
"It's easy to surrender to the cynicism, and a lot of people have to face it, but Larry proves that the forward motion of him going back to school gives him the faith that something is going to happen.
"That is not only an upbeat message, but a very wise one."
Larry Crowne is the first film that we have seen Hanks in Angels and Demons, he did lend his voice the $1 billion barrier breaking Toy Story 3 last summer.
Larry Crowne is released 1st July.
