Valkyrie Extras Threaten Legal Action....
Injured extras on Tom Cruise's forthcoming World War II movie Valkyrie have threatened legal action following Sunday's (19Aug07) on-set truck accident.Nine extras received medical treatment after they were thrown from the vehicle on set in Berlin, Germany. Cruise had a day off filming at the time. The background artists have now joined forces to seek compensation for their injuries and have hired lawyer Ariane Bluttner.Bluttner says, "(They will sue) unless producers unbureaucratically and rapidly compensated the injured. Those responsible on the set displayed inhuman indifference in playing with the health and the lives of the extras."Allan Mayer, publicist for producers United Artists, says, "The injuries were extremely minor. Only nine extras were injured (not 11 as had been previously reported)."The truck was going 15 miles-per-hour. The 2nd Unit was filming that day, and Tom Cruise was not working."Eight of the extras were treated for cuts and bruises, and the ninth was kept overnight for observation".
