Tom Cruise reveals that he was really intrigued by the character of Jack Reacher when he started reading the novels.
The actor is back on the big screen this Christmas as he take on the title role in Jack Reacher - which is directed by Christopher McQuarrie.
And the Oscar nominated actor admits that there were elements of the character that he really liked when he read the books.
Speaking to Empire the actor said: "When you start on these Reacher books, you can’t stop reading them. IT takes you away to different places, I loved that character. I just have an affinity for it.
"It love that idea that he’s analogue in a digital age, I like the simplicity with which he approaches things. I thought I’d love to play that."
Jack Reacher will see Cruise team up with Robert Duvall, Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins and Jai Courtney.
And Cruise will be kicking off the blockbuster summer next year with his movie Oblivion and he is currently filming his latest project All You Need Is Kill.
Jack Reacher is released 26th December.
