Timur Bekmambetov says that a Wanted sequel is on the right track.
There has long since been talk of a sequel to the 2008 action movie and now the director says that a writer is currently working on the screenplay for the film.
Speaking to The Playlist the filmmaker said: "An unbelievable thing happened three weeks ago. Because we stopped, we didn't know what to do for three or four years.
"Three weeks ago I came up with a great idea and I pitched this idea and everybody fell in love with it.
"And now I think we're on track. Right now the writer is working on the script, and it will be shocking."
Wanted was a box office success back in 2008 as James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman came together to star..
And while it is not clear who will be on the cast list this time around Bekmambetov says that the movie will be a continuation of Wesley's story.
However Bekmambetov is back in the director's chair this week with his new movie Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, an adaptation of the novel by Seth Grahame-Smith.
