The Tree of Life

The Tree Of Life has been handed another Oscars boost after picking up the Best Picture honour at the San Francisco Film Critics Circle Awards.
 
Terrence Malick was also named Best Director and Emmanuel Lubezki took home the Best Cinematographer award for his work on the film.
 
San Francisco's top acting awards went to British stars, with Gary Oldman claiming the Best Actor prize for his role as retired spy George Smiley in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and the Circle bestowed its Best Actress award on Tilda Swinton, the beleaguered mother of a bad seed in We Need to Talk About Kevin.
 
Vanessa Redgrave (Coriolanus) and Albert Brooks (Drive) landed the best supporting accolades.
 
Other winners included Certified Copy (Best Foreign Language Film); Tabloid (Best Documentary); Rango (Best Animated Film), J.C. Chandor (Best Original Screenplay for Margin Call), and Bridget O'Connor and Peter Straughan (Best Adapted Screenplay for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy).
