The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has stormed to the top of the UK box office ending the one week reign of Rise of the Guardians.
Peter Jackson took us back to Middle Earth this weekend for the first time in a decade and fans have flocked to the cinema to see it.
The movie grossed in excess of £11.6 million to take the top spot and the movie has taken $230 million worldwide after its first weekend.
Rise of the Guardians fell just one place this week to number two while Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger was up three.
It seems that movie goers were in a festive mood over the weekend as Nativity 2, which stars David Tennant, was at number five this time last week.
Skyfall was down two place this week at number four and is now just £2 million away from hitting the magical £100 million at the UK box office.
Tinker Bell and the Secret of the Wings was the second and final new entry on the top ten this week as it opened at number five.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 was out of the top five this week as it dropped two places from four to six while Seven Psychopaths was down four at seven.
Silver Linings Playbook fell just two places to eight and Argo was a one place faller at number nine.
Great Expectations rounded off the top ten this week after dropping three places from number seven.
