The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey has stormed to the top of the U.S. box office - setting a December record in the process.
The movie took $84.7 million in its opening weekend to easily topple Skyfall from the #1 spot.
An Unexpected Journey is now the biggest movie to open in December - beating the record that was previously held by The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Life Of Pi stayed put at five while The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 dropped three places to six.
Wreck-It-Ralph was the third none mover of the week as it remained at seven for another week while Playing For Keeps fell two to number eight.
Red Dawn was down one at nine while Silver Linings Playbook was up one to round off the top ten.
