The Green Hornet has toppled True Grit from the top of the U.S. box office to take the number one spot.
The movie sees Seth Rogen return to the big screen as he teams up with Sunshine of the Spotless Mind filmmaker Michel Gondry.
Following the death of his father, Britt Reid, heir to his father's large company, teams up with his late dad's assistant Kato to become a masked crime fighting team.
The movie took $34 million in its opening weekend to comfortably see off the challenge from The Dilemma, which stars Vince Vaughn.
Vaughn stars in the Ron Howard comedy alongside Kevin James and Jennifer Connelly but it has to settle for the #2 spot as it took $17.4 million.
True Grit, the latest project from the Coen Brothers, dropped two places to this week’s number three while Colin Firth’s The King’s Speech rose four places from eight to number four.
The British actor was the toast of Hollywood last night as he picked up the Golden Globe for Best Actor for his performance in the movie.
Black Swan, which is also an Oscar favourite, stood firm at number five.
Little Fockers was a four place faller this week as it dropped out of the top five to this week’s number six. Tron: Legacy was also down - dropping three places to number seven.
And The King’s Speech wasn’t the only movie on the up this week as Yogi Bear climbed a mammoth eleven places from nineteen to this week’s number eight.
The Fighter dropped two to number nine bit this week’s biggest faller was Nicolas Cage’s latest movie Season of the Witch, which was down seven from last week’s number three.
