The Amazing Spider-Man will kick off a trilogy of movies according to Sony.
The movie hit the screens in the U.S. and UK on Tuesday and has so far been breaking box office records for Tuesday openings.
And on the film's official Facebook page the studio revealed that this movie was the beginning of a three part franchise.
"It’s finally here! The Amazing Spider-Man is the first instalment in a movie trilogy that will explore how our fave hero’s journey was shaped by the disappearance of his parents."
The franchise has been a completely new reboot with Marc Webb at the helm and Andrew Garfield in the central role of Peter Parker.
There was talk before the release of the film that a screenplay for a second movie was already being written - those plans have now been taken one step further.
Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Rhys Ifans and Denis Leary complete an all star line-up and the movie looks set to top the box office at the end of the weekend.
