Taylor Lautner has admitted that he was looking to challenge himself as he took on new action movie Abduction.
The actor leads the cast in the latest movie by John Singleton and play a teenager who goes on the run when he discovers he was abducted as a child.
The actor admitted that he had been inspired by the likes of Matt Damon and Harrison Ford in the genre as he took on his first big action role.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Time the actor said:"I don't know why, but I'm always looking to challenge myself as much as possible.
"Plus, I had always been an action fan and been fans of actors like [Matt] Damon and Harrison Ford. What I love about their action movies is that they're not just action movies.
"They're playing a character that goes through an incredible journey."
Abduction is only the second movie release from the actor since he shot to fan in Twilight playing Jacob Black - a role he will reprise later this year with Breaking Dawn - Part 1.
Abduction is released 28th September.
