Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ reign at the top of the U.S. box office has been brought to an end by new Disney movie Tangled.
Tangled boasts the voice talent of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi as they re-tell the famous story of Rapunzel.
The movie follows the long-haired Princess Rapunzel has spent her entire life in a tower, but when she falls in love with a bandit who was passing by she must venture into the outside world for the first time to find him.
The movie took $21.5 million at the box office this week to topple Harry Potter who slipped to number two.
The first instalment of the final instalment of Harry Potter took a further $16.7 million this weekend to comfortably hold onto second spot.
Burlesque, which sees Christina Aguilera make her big screen debut, was up one place from last week’s four to round off the top three.
Unstoppable also rose one place to four while Love & Other Drugs, which sees Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway reunite, was also up one from six to five.
Megamind was this week’s biggest faller as it dropped three places outside the top five to number six. And comedy Due Date followed the rising trend as it moved up one place from eight to seven.
Faster is the latest film from Dwayne Johnson and it was down one to number eight. The only other new entry inside the top ten this week was Warrior’s Way as it opened at number nine.
