Steven Soderbergh has signed on as the second unit director on pal Gary Ross' movie adaptation of bestseller The Hunger Games.
 
The Traffic director has agreed to help his friend as he completes production on the much-anticipated 2012 blockbuster.
 
Eddie Mills, a production designer on the film, broke the news via a tweet on Wednesday (03Aug11), posting, "Soderbergh in the house this weekend!!! very exciting!"
 
That message was apparently followed by a tweet from set electrician Chrys Blackstone, which read, "Holy s**t! Just found out that Steven Soderbergh is coming to the #hungergames to direct 2nd Unit.

"I am so excited this is getting good!" But that tweet has since been taken down and replaced with the post, "Just gained a whole bunch of new real followers... Must be something im tweeting."
