Steve Carell admits that he would be interested in a Get Smart sequel if the script was good enough.

Carell took on the role of Maxwell Smart back in 2008, alongside Anne Hathaway, and he believes that a sequel will be made at some point in the future.

In an interview with Hollywood.com he said: "That's maybe somewhere down the line as well. That's sort of on the back-burner.

"I took a pass at the script for it. We'll see. That was fun to do. But I think to make another one, it would have to be really good.

"I wouldn't want to do one for the sake of doing one. I'd want to try to make it pretty special."

Get Smart was the last time we had seen Carell on the big screen until he returned earlier this year with Shaun Levy's comedy Date Night.

He will be back on the big screen next month as he teams up with funnyman Paul Rudd for another comedy movie Dinner For Schmucks, which also stars Zach Galifianakis.

The actor has also lent his voice to new animation movie Despicable Me, which has also ready topped the box office in America, and is due in the UK in October.

Dinner For Schmucks is released 20th August.
