Stellan Skarsgard says that David Fincher warned him that he was a director that like to shoot many takes.

The pair have teamed up for an American remake of popular novel the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - which also stars Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara.

Skarsgard takes on the role of Martin Vanger in the movie and admits that he wasn't fazed by the number of takes that Fincher likes to do.

Speaking to Superhero Hype the actor said: "[Directors] all have their own ways of working and the more talented the directors are, the more you want to know what their childhood was like really.

"David Fincher said to me when we met, 'This will not be fun, because I sometimes do 40 takes of each set-up'.

"And I said, 'It better be fun, and I don't mind doing 40 takes, so let's make 40 fun takes'."

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo looks set to be one of the must see movies of the winter and will build on Skarsgard's success already this year with Thor.

He is set to reprise the role of Professor Erik Shelving in The Avengers - which is currently filming.

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is released 26th December.
