China’s growing movie industry is set to get another shot in the arm as Kevin Spacey has agreed to star in a new Chinese film called Inseparable.
The two time Oscar winner (for American Beauty and The Usual Suspects) will take on the role of a mysterious American ex-pat who friends the films main character, an engineer with problems both at home and work.
The movie, a dark comedy from Chinese writer and director Dayyan Eng is planned to be released this year.
Filming is set to begin in the southern China later this month.
The biggest Western star to play a lead in a Chinese made film, the makers will hope that his name will bring in audiences both at home and abroad, with the film being shot in both Mandarin Chinese and in English.
With Deng’s successful track record, he has had award winning films at both the Venice, Sundance and the Beijing film festivals, Spacey looks like he’s chosen the right captain for his ride into Aisa.
