Sofia Coppola has admitted that being a woman has been no problem whilst forging a filmmaking career.
Coppola is back with her new movie Somewhere, which sees her work with Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning.
And she reveals that she always had confidence that she could make it in Hollywood as a female filmmaker.
Speaking about her upbringing she told MSN Movies: "My dad treated me the same as my brothers.
"He was teaching me the same, so I never thought I couldn't do that."
Somewhere is the first movie for Coppola since Marie Antoinette back in 2006 - which saw her work with Kirsten Dunst.
She picked up a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for her work on Lost In Translation, also being nominated for Best Director but losing out to Peter Jackson.
