The success of Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire at last weekend's Oscars has seen the rags to riches story just back to the top of the box office.
The film moved up two places from number three after it scooped eight gongs from ten nominations including Best Picture and Best Director for Boyle.
Clint Eastwood's Gran Torino is the most successful movie for the veteran actor at the box office grossing over $1.3 million in it's opening weekend.
Horror movie The Unborn was the highest new entry at number three. Last week's number one, Disney film Bolt, dropped three places to number four.
Confessions of A Shopaholic rounded off the top five, falling three places. The top five movies all broke the £1 million barrier.
This weeks's biggest faller was The Curious Case of Benjamin Button as it dropped four places to number nine. Renee Zellweger's new comedy was a new entry at ten while The International opened at six.
