Film comedy duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the team behind hits such as Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, have been talking to FILMCLUB about their new film Paul, which is released in UK cinemas on 14 February.

Simon Pegg told FILMCLUB Young Ambassador Lewis Rogers that the film, which tells the tale of two friends travelling across the U.S. who encounter an alien outside of Area 51, was born out of a desire to film in warmer climes; "It came of being in the rain in London making Shaun of the Dead and wanting to film somewhere it was hot!

"And our immediate thought was the desert, and then our immediate thought was Area 51 and that became an alien. It was a spitball and suddenly it then became a movie something special which is great."

The actor, who is also from the West Country, also offered the youngster advice on working in the film industry, telling him; "Be tenacious and don’t think you can’t do it for a second because you can. It doesn’t matter where you are from, just work at it.

"If you drop at the first hurdle then you’re not going to make it, just keep punching away."

Lewis said of his experience; "I'm a huge fan of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, so it was an incredible experience to report at the premiere of their new film Paul.

"I was lucky enough to interview Simon Pegg about the creation of the film and asked what advice he has for aspiring filmmakers and actors.

"It's brilliant to see someone from the West Country enjoying a successful film career, and I thanked him for mentioning Swindon in his sitcom Spaced!"

Lewis is now a seasoned junior reporter for FILMCLUB, having previously completed assignments reporting at the premieres of The Kid and The First Grader, a training day with media training day with BBC presenters Andy Aikinwolere and Johnny Pitts, and he was interviewed on BBC Radio 5 flagship film programme with Boyd Hilton and Nigel Floyd alongside Monsters director Gareth Edwards.
