Joss Whedon has revealed that production on The Avengers is set to get underway this week.
Whedon is set to direct the movie which brings together some of Marvels biggest characters - Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner are all aboard.
Writing on his official blog the filmmaker said: "Tomorrow we start shooting (I THINK I'm legally permitted to say that). Day one. That's right (sic).
"We'll be shooting the pivotal death/betrayal/product placement/setting up the sequel/coming out scene, at the following address... Went too far. My bad.
"Anyhoo, it should be a fun day, followed by the eighty thousand other fun days it will take to finish this.
"I'll be checking in from time to time, if there's news or I crave attention (i.e. am awake). None of it will be Avengers news... but I may have tidbits."
It is yet unknown whether Gwyneth Paltrow and Natalie Portman will reprise their roles as Pepper Potts and Jane Foster in the movie.
The Avengers is set for a 4th May 2012 release.
