Shia LaBeouf believes that he has nothing left to offer the Transformers franchise.
The actor returned to the role of Sam Witwicky last week for Dark of the Moon, the third film in the franchise, revealing that it would be the last time he would take on that role.
And while the actor hints the franchise will live on he will not be starring in any further movies.
Speaking to the BBC the actor said: "Nobody really cares about Sam anymore...he has no purpose, there's nothing sacred in his life.
"This is the most broken that Sam's ever been and you start there and he sort of builds himself back up throughout the course of the film."
LaBeouf added: "I'm sure they'll make more of them - it's still a very hot franchise. I'm not sure I have anything more to contribute.
"I love making them, I love the crew, I love Michael, I love the cast, I love Sam. I like doing it but I don't have anything new to contribute and I don't think there's anywhere to take Sam really."
But it looks like LaBeouf will go out with a bang as the movie has already grossed in excess of $416 million at the global box office this weekend and is number one in both the U.S. and the UK.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon is out now.
