Shia LaBeouf says that he is taking more risks with his career
The actor has been in Cannes this week promoting his new film Lawless, his first film since leaving the Transformers franchise.
He suggests that he didn't take on riskier projects in the past because he felt like he had something to protect but now he is looking to push the boundaries when it comes to his work.
Speaking to the Press Association the actor said: "I'm taking risks more.
"I was really risk-adverse for a while because I had a big nugget to protect, not only for myself but for the people who were behind me.
"I think I've become less corporate."
Lawless is an adaptation of Matt Bondurant's novel The Wettest County In The World and sees LaBeouf team up with filmmaker John Hillcoat.
LaBeouf will also star in Robert Redford's next directorial outing The Company You Keep, in which Redford will also star.
Julie Christie, Brendan Gleeson, Terrence Howard, Richard Jenkins, Stanley Tucci and Anna Kendrick will all also star.
Lawless is released later this summer
