Sharlto Copley has revealed that he made actor Dwight Schultz cry when he showed him his performance in the new District 9 movie.
Copley takes on the role of Murdock in the movie, a part that Schultz played in the TV show in the eighties.
Speaking to the Press Association the actor said: "I got the part by editing some stuff together in a hotel room when I was busy doing the District 9 publicity tour and I really just brought my own improvisation style to the character.
"I showed it to Dwight and when he'd finished watching it he turned to me with tears in his eyes and said 'you are Murdock' and gave me a hug and that was the most important thing to me that I made him feel comfortable to pass the torch on, as it were."
Copley has seen his star rise after finding success with District 9 last year, a movie that went on to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.
And the actor admits that compared to shooting the low budget sci-fi movie his summer blockbuster The A-Team was straight forward.
"It was awesome, it was so much fun just seeing it all come together. It was a nice schedule and it wasn't as demanding as District 9 was for me.
"I had a good time and it was the most fun character you can play. It's really just a lot of laughs."
The A-Team is directed by Joe Carnaghan and will see Copley star alongside Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson and Jessica Biel.
The A-Team is released 30th July.
