Seth Rogen has revealed that despite his new movie 50/50 tackling a serious subject it is just as funny as the other work that he has done.
50/50 follows the struggle against caner of a twentysomething you guy but Rogen insists that despite the depressing subject matter they have made something funny out of it.
Speaking to MTV News the actor said: "It is about something somewhat serious, but I really think it's as funny as any of our movies.
"That's what is really interesting about it to me. We'd always talk about how it's not a creative challenge to take something depressing and make something depressing out of it," he explained.
"To us, it was much more interesting to take something that's inherently depressing and try to make something really, really funny out of it.
"To me, the movies that are about something you generally don't want to watch but you keep watching for decades to come, the only reason you do that is because they're funny."
The movie is directed by Jonathan Levine, his first movie since The Wackness, with Joseph Gordon Levitt in the central role of Kyle - Rogen takes on the part of Adam, Kyle's best friend, who helps him through the struggle.
50/50 is released 6th January 2012.
