Sean Penn is set to play a Nazi-hunting rock star in a new movie.
The Milk star is in talks to headline Italian director Paolo Sorrentino's first English-language film This Must Be the Place.
Penn is slated to play a wealthy, retired rocker who embarks on a quest to find the German officer who executed his father.
The actor has agreed to take on the role as soon as he's completed work on slapstick comedy The Three Stooges, according to Daily Variety.
Earlier this year Penn won his second Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of politician Harvey Milk in Gus Van Sant's Milk.
In 1977, Harvey Milk was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, becoming the first openly gay man to be voted into major public office in America.
The film was a critical hit and Penn won a string of awrds for his performance including the Screen Actors Guild Award. However he faced tough competition on the night from Mickey Rourke who had won the Bafta and Golden Globe for his role in The Wrestler.
Penn won his first Best Actor Oscar back in 2003 for Mystic River, directed by Clint Eastwood.
