Scarlett Johansson has revealed that she no longer wants to take on parts of naive women but wants to take on more challenging parts.
The actress admits that she is now more interested in roles where women have experienced life rather than those who have not ereally lived.
She is back on the big screen in the new year as she stars alongside Matt Damon in Cameron Crowe's We Bought A Zoo - her first movie role since Iron Man 2 last summer.
Speaking to New York Magazine the actress said: "I think that as I get older, I'm now looking at roles that move away from that kind of ingénue mould and are more based on women that are experienced and have had life before the point you find them in.
"That's refreshing for me. It's nice to be able to kind of transition into that. I feel like for me, right now, I don't wanna take on any roles that aren't challenging in some way.
"I never wanna play something I've done before. I wanna be able to just have everything be hard in some way. Otherwise, what's the point?"
Speaking of Iron Man the actress will be reprising the role of Black Widow when she joins The Avengers next summer - which will also star Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Samuel L Jackson.
We Bought A Zoo is released 16th March
