The horror movie continues to reign supreme at the top of the U.S. box office as Saw 3D has toppled Paranormal Activity 2 this Halloween weekend.
Saw 3D is expected to be the final movie in the long running franchise and the film took $24.2 million this weekend to comfortably see off the competition from Paranormal Activity 2.
As a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw's brutal legacy, a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen, a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror.
Paranormal Activity fell a single place to number two while Red, which stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich, held onto third spot.
There was a two place fall for Jackass 3D as it fell from two to this week's number four while Hereafter dropped just a single spot to round off this week's top ten.
Secretariat was the second movie not to move this week as it held firm at six but there was a two place drop for former number one The Social Network, which was down at seven.
Life As We Know It was down one at eight while The Town stayed put at number nine. And it was a great weekend for Conviction, which stars Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell, which jumped fifteen places from twenty five to ten.
