Saoirse Ronan has revealed that Gemma Arterton had a really maternal side and that helped them bond on the set of their new movie Byzantium.
The pair play vampires who are mother and daughter in the Neil Jordan directed movie that is based on the play by Moira Buffini.
And Ronan had nothing but nice things to say about her co-star.
Speaking to the Press Association the actress said: "She's lovely, she's very, very sweet and somebody who I got on with pretty much straight away.
"And she's got a real maternal instinct as well, which I think helped for us to get along even better from the off.
"We're in pretty much everything together, we have a lot of scenes together so we got to know each other quite well and she's just lovely."
Byzantium was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival this week where it was picked up my IFC Films.
As for Ronan it is just one of a handful of projects that she has on the verge of release as The Host and Justin and the Knight of Valour will hit the big screen next year.
