Sandra Bullock has admitted that she nearly didn't take on The Blind Side.
Bullock takes on the role of Leigh Anne Tuohy who, along with her husband, adopts teenager Michael Oher.
For her central performance as the feisty and protective Leigh Anne the actress picked up a Best Actress Oscar last weekend.
Speaking to The Times the actress said: It took John Lee Hancock nearly a year to persuade me to meet Leigh Anne, and even then I wasn't sure I could do her justice.
"I also don't think I could have done this role even five years ago, but yes, having a family of my own helped clarify the dynamics in my head."
Despite and long and successful career this was Bullock's very first Oscar nomination, she also took home the Golden Globe and the Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance.
The night before the Oscars the actress attended the Razzie's where she picked up her Worst Actress Award for All ABout Steve in person.
The Blind Side is released 26th March.
