Samuel L.Jackson has admitted that it was exciting move away from his big budget all action movie roles to take on an everyday guy character.
The actor stars alongside Naomi Watts in new movie Mother and Child and looked forward to getting under the skin of this complex character.
Speaking to IESB.net the actor said: "You know, it’s as exciting to step into the skin of this particular character as it is to be Nick Fury, or anybody else. It’s the story. That’s the exciting thing.
"It’s about being able to service it and put that character on the inside of that story and have him be part of the dynamic of what’s going on between his character and Naomi’s character, and to move the story along in that particular way.
"(Director/writer) Rodrigo [Garcia] did an amazing job of writing a story, especially about all these women.
"How does that dude get in touch with his feminine side that well to make that happen? I’m just thankful that he wrote a role like that for a guy.
And Samuel. L Jackson could possibly be the busiest man in Hollywood with a string of roles coming his way.
He can currently be seen as Nick Fury in Iron Man 2, a role he will reprise in Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avenger and possibly a solo movie.
He is back on the big screen later this year alongside Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell and Dwayne Johnson in The Other Guys.
He also has Vengeance: A Love Story, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage and Deathgames all in pre-production.
