Sam Worthington believes that there will be a string of Avatar movies.

The actor is riding high off the back of the success of James Cameron's sci-fi epic, in which he played the central character Jake.

The movie has broken through the $2 billion barrier to become the biggest grossing movie of all time, overtaking Titanic.

Speaking to Access Hollywood the actor admits that it could be a successful franchise: "I'm starting to think we're going to do Avatar 3, 4, 5.

"But that's the thing - we're only going to do it if Jim can find someone to challenge him because he's not the type of guy that just dives in lightly."

"Jim will only do a movie if it's a challenge for him and if he can revolutionise something. I know with Jim, he has to find his personal challenge for it."

The actor revealed that he wanted to work with Cameron again: "I signed for a couple [of sequels] but I'll work with Jim for a bucket of fish!"

Worthington is staying with the blockbuster for his next movie as he takes on the role of Perseus in the big screen remake of Clash of the Titans.

Clash of the Titans is released 2nd April.
