
Sam Worthington has signed for movie Drift.
The Avatar and Clash of the Titans actor will return home to Australia to film the surfing drama which will be directed by Morgan O'Neill and Ben Nott.
Speaking to Digital Spy the actor said: "I'm a WA boy at heart and to go back there and put something back into my hometown is something I am really looking forward to.
"There's something pure and true about surfing, and there is something pure and true about this script."
Sam Worthington has enjoyed huge success with Avatar at the end of last year, a role that he may be reprising as James Cameron is planning a possible two sequels, before topping the box office again with Clash of the Titans.
He has already completed work on The Debt, which sees him work with Helen Mirren, and Last Night which also stars Keira Knightley and Eva Mendes.
The Fields is currently in post production and Worthington has a string of movie in the pipeline - The Candidate, Dracula Year Zero and Quartermain are just some projects on the horizon.
