Ryan Reynolds has claimed that getting in shape for his X-Men Origins Wolverine role as 'awful'.
The actor takes on the role of Wade Wilson in the first spin off to the successful X-Men franchise, that spanned three movies since 2000.
Speaking at the Los Angeles premiere he said: "Well that's awful, in general, working out like that. I think it's fine to work out a little bit every once in a while, it's expected," he explained.
"But each day eating live screaming chickens and hitting the gym for four or five hours is no fun."
It's the first time that Wade Wilson/Deadpool, a wisecracking mercenary who can heal like Wolverine. has appeared in the mutant series of movies. And what was supposed to be a cameo role turned into something more substantial.
Wolverine isn't the first comic book movie for Reynolds as he starred alongside Wesley Snipes in Blade: Trinity, which was also based on a Marvel Comic character.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is out now.
