Ryan Gosling has revealed that he was fired from the Lovely Bones because he and Peter Jackson disagreed on how Jack Salmon should be portrayed.
The Notebook was all set to star alongside Rachel Weisz as grieving parents when their daughter is murdered.
And while Gosling did put on weight especially for the movie Jackson disagreed with his vision of the character. Mark Wahlberg went on to play the role.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter the actor said: "We had a different idea of how the character should look.
"I really believed he should be 210lbs. I was melting Häagen-Dazs and drinking it when I was thirsty!"
"We didn't talk very much during the preproduction process, which was the problem. It was a huge movie, and there's so many things to deal with, and he couldn't deal with the actors individually.
"I just showed up on set, and I had gotten it wrong."
The actor is back on the big screen with All Good Things, which sees him team up with Kristen Dunst.
He has already completed work on Drive and Crazy, Stupid, Love and has been linked to The Ideas of March.
